Morimoto 4Banger Pod Lights for 2012-15 Toyota Tacoma

Morimoto 4Banger Fog Light & A-Pillar Install for 2012-2015 Toyota Tacoma

The Tacoma is among the best trucks ever made. It is tough, able, and customizable indefinitely. The XB LED Headlights are among the many high-end items that Morimoto has provided for the Tacoma throughout the years. The new 4Banger LED pod lights make both an A-Pillar mount and a fog light mount possible.

We'll go over all the features and settings of the 4Banger today, along with how to install these fantastic pod lights. For your 2012–2015 Toyota Tacoma, the 4Bangers offer a wide range of options with three distinct beam patterns, two distinct colors, and two trim levels.

ABOUT THE 4BANGERS

With two distinct trim levels, the Morimoto 4Banger LED Pod lights offer a blend of output, design, and adaptability to the LED pod light industry. The entry-level 4Banger NCS model comes with a Nichia LED chip specification for its output source. An Osram HX Boost LED chip powers the premium HXB model's TIR optics, which are present in both variants.

As we have already stated, these pod lights fit crazily. To avoid your 4Bangers looking like they were just tacked to your truck, several mounts designed specifically for your vehicle make the modifications on your truck appear natural.

Beam Patterns

Three beam patterns are available for the NCS and HXB models: combination (driving), wide, and spot. Of the three, the wide beam pattern is probably going to be the most popular. It can be utilized without concern and ideally in a fog light application. The NCS and HXB broad beam pattern pod lights pointed at -3° are both permitted for use on public roads.

The driving pattern or mix is helpful for off-roading and is likely to be a favorite among that group. It is also true that the flashlight beam pattern is virtually solely designed for off-road use.

Color Options and Optics

Additionally, a white or yellow beam pattern is available for purchase for each of those beam patterns for the NCS and HXB models.

The yellow NCS model will use a Nichia true-yellow LED chip with a yellow-filtered lens. In contrast, the HXB model employs a yellow-filtered lens and a white Osram chip. According to the output comparison between the HXB white and yellow options, when you go from the premium white HXB 4Banger to the premium yellow HXB, you will lose about 30% of your brightness.

Additionally, this creates a somewhat distinct yellow hue between the two lights you see below.

We previously discussed the TIR optics, which refer to the lenses. In essence, the lens optic produces distinct beam patterns instead of the LED chip inside the 4Banger Pod light.

TACOMA INSTALL

Tools Needed for the Job

Phillips Screwdriver

10mm Socket

Impact/Ratchet Wrench

Zip Ties

Fog Light Mount

First, take hold of the adjustment bracket and unscrew the 4Banger's two bottom screws. These screws will be replaced with the two longer ones included in the kit, and the adjustment bracket will be placed over them.

The 4Banger bracket can only be positioned on the lamp in one manner.

Slide your 4Banger into the bracket at the angle indicated below. There will be a tiny "click" sound when it is in position.

Then insert the two screws included in the kit into the side holts.

Next, grab the adjustment screw and place it on the 4Banger's side. Once installed, this will enable you to modify the LED pod light.

Attach the accessory harness to the 4Banger before proceeding with the Tacoma light installation.

Installing it on your truck involves removing two 10mm bolts from the bottom of the bumper, which are located beneath your fog lights.

Using a pry tool, go to the wheel well and remove the plastic push pin. Once this is removed, you can access your fog lights by removing the wheel well trim.

After disconnecting the OEM harness, remove the two attached screws. After that, the OEM fog light can be taken out.

With a "L" or "R," the 4Banger bracket indicates whether it is the left (L) or right (R) 4Banger.

The 4Banger attaches similarly to the OEM; attach the OEM harness and tighten the two external screws.

A-Pillar Mount

We will start with the wiring before moving on to the bracketry for the A-pillar mount. The relay harness should be taken vertically first. You can place yours anywhere it's handy, but we put ours in the crucial holes close to the battery. To avoid water incursion, make sure to attach it with the wires pointing downward.

Route "Light 2" to the passenger side of the engine bay and take the "Light 1" harness to the driver's side. If the extension harness doesn't reach the location where the 4Banger will be mounted, use it to provide space.

We suggest zip-tying the "Light 2" harness to the body harness, but you are free to tuck and tidy up your wires any way you choose.

With the 4Bangers, a Morimoto Switch is included. This can be routed along with the OEM cab harness or used with a step and drill through your firewall utilizing the switch's included grommet. Before routing the switch, disconnect it from its connection point.

After routing it to your preference, loosen the thin bolt and insert it into the borehole. After tightening the bolt, reattach the switch to the harness.

The installation of the 4Banger A-pillar brackets can now start. To begin, split a piece of tape in half and place it close to the hood mount. Draw two lines from the bolt places across each piece after aligning them as best you can. After installing the brackets, this is essential to ensure that your hood is correctly aligned.

Acquire the U-bracket and the A-pillar fixture. The U-bracket should be positioned at the top of the A-pillar mount with its face pointing forward. The washer and bolt underneath the U-bracket should be slightly tightened.

We advise using a second pair of hands for this task. Holding the hood base closest to the windshield, have the second person undo the two 10mm hood mounts.

While the hood is still being held by the person holding it, take your A-pillar bracket, slide it from beneath the hood, and align the two hood mount holes. Tighten the OEM bolts back into position. Use the tape pieces that we prepared to ensure that the hood is mounted correctly.

The 4Banger can then be retrieved and inserted into the U-bracket. To secure it, lightly tighten it with the two included screws.

Attach the 4Banger harness to the connector for the pod light. Alternatively, use the clasp included with the 4Banger to secure the wires to the A-pillar mount.

Wiring

Finally, after removing the bolt, you must attach the ground wire to the negative terminal. For the positive terminal, follow the same procedure.

Make sure your lights are pointed in the direction you want. The screws on your 4Banger's sides and the 17mm bolt underneath it can then be tightened.
